Sometimes, when we insist on the drive
The push for more
Divine intervention is necessary
Call it God
Or call it your gut
But when you get true to self
Sometimes time is all you really need.
Fear can creep up on you in the wee hours
When you’re alone
With only shadows to bear witness.
When reality suddenly appears
Through a split-screen
And despite the rolling waves of nausea
And the racing of the mind that comes with NOT knowing
You see the you you want to be
And know a change is coming.
The rare ability to find the quiet
When wallpaper flowers dance
And tears soak your pillow
Clarity can occur
Wrapped within the confines of madness
They don’t know
They never will
As they have no desire for truth
Content in the comfort of the lie
We all live with.
Ignorance is bliss
When you can make the world all about you
Separate from the whole it is
Denying your place
For the sake of the person you profess to be
Some of us dance on the lower rungs
Enjoying the frivolity of the play
Exit stage left
While the chorus line hides
This spotlight shines for you, you know
Bright enough you need not lend your gaze
To the suffering audience
You refuse to let leave.
The only encores
The ones bouncing off the walls of your mind.
Seriously universe...you can stop playing with me this way. You may have taken me out for my long weekend, but I'll not be missing OpenLinkNight. Brian Miller is manning the pub tonight and I have every intention of being there! Flu be gone!
